To celebrate our incredible queen and the quite tremendous feat that is her reign, The Dell welcomed one and all for an extended bank holiday of family fun, delicious local ales and cocktails, and a celebratory menu of pizzas, cakes, and cream teas.
The Dell was decorated with an exultant bunting of Union Jack’s and hessian and the tv was set up under a gazebo to play a timetable of events and parades. Boycie saw its chalkboard advertising boards given a jubilant red, white and blue. The scene was set for all to enjoy their long weekends and the weather held off until Sunday!
Our menu for the weekend featured a pizza menu with some celebratory monikers which were altogether quite confusing for our staff! ‘The Pearly Queen’, a take on eggs and bacon. Using excellent bacon from Buckingham’s butchers in West Meon and atop a bechamel base, we cracked an egg to create a truly unique pizza for the Jubilee. Joined by ‘The Osborne House’ delicious Isle of White tomatoes, caramelized onion and goat’s cheese, and some other more classic pizzas featuring seasonal asparagus and prosciutto and salami, all were truly satisfied come dinner time. Our drinks – are Summer Punch, a vodka, elderflower, mint, basil, and lemon cocktail, and a selection of local ales and cider from Bowman’s, FlowerPots, and Meon Cider.
Boycie was not to be left out of the revelry, the café was filled with a delightful selection of home bakes, scones for cream teas (with prosecco), lemon drizzle cake, millionaire’s shortbread, and summer berry pavlovas for those with a sweet tooth. For the elevenses South Downs sausage rolls and Coronation chicken samosas proved a real hit.
The weekend was a joy for all and was completed by a trip into East Meon for a day of celebrating with our local community. The Jubilee
